This podcast where Ashley and Chris, two game boys, chat about titles from their personal gaming history. Each episode, one of the hosts presents a game from their childhood, including a brief history of its development and any personal anecdotes. After playing the game off-mic, the second half of the podcast is a discussion of how it holds up and whether the nostalgia factor still stands. Ep.84 - Minesweeper (Microsoft Windows)
Thursday Oct 21, 2021
Thursday Oct 21, 2021
With a brand new iteration of Microsoft's Windows operating system on the horizon, Chris and Ashley's minds drift back to the early days of the platform and the hidden gem that is Minesweeper that sat there, unassuming, somewhere in the depths of the Start Menu. Anybody who ever touched a PC in the two decades either side of the millenium has played it (probably) and now Chris and Ashley are playing it again. Listen in and find out where their trip through time takes them!

Ep.83 - Metroid II: The Return of Samus (Nintendo Game Boy)
Thursday Oct 14, 2021
Thursday Oct 14, 2021
Samus is back! At least she was in 1991 when Metroid II: The Return of Samus hit the Game Boy, and then again in 1998 when Ashley played it (and yes we know she's back again in Metroid Dread). This sequel to the hit NES is peculiar in a number of ways (that you'll have to listen to the episode to find out about, natch!) but we're certain it is worth anyone's time if they have even the slightest whiff of interest in games, so give us a listen to find out why!

What's good about Metal Gear Solid? That's the question Chris and Ashley are trying to answer this week as they plumb the depths of this Kojima cut. Their answers might surprise you.

Ep.81 - Civilization VI (PC)
Thursday Sep 30, 2021
Thursday Sep 30, 2021
We've both been a bit under the weather this week so our episode today was recorded a little while ago. Long before the epiphany Chris experienced with Starcraft, in the midst of his denial of all things strategy, Ashley took up the impossible task of convincing him to play the latest entry in one of the finest turn-based strategy game series in existence, Civilization VI. Join Chris in finding out exactly what it is and why it is most definitely worth your time.

Ep.80 - StarCraft (PC)
Thursday Sep 23, 2021
Thursday Sep 23, 2021
If Ashley had a quid for every time Chris has slandered the real time strategy genre then he'd probably have a minor fortune. However, turns out it was all completely baseless because Chris has hardly even touched an RTS, let alone played one for any length of time. So what better place to start than with StarCraft? Does the game have what it takes to turn Chris around on an entire genre he has reviled for his entire life? Listen in to find out!

Ep.79 - Repton (Acorn Archimedes)
Thursday Sep 16, 2021
Thursday Sep 16, 2021
We're going way back this week with Chris's Acorn Archimedes pick of Repton, a game Ashley hadn't even heard of let alone played, but one that nevertheless spawned a multitude of sequels. Listen along to find out whether they were deserved!
During the episode, we played Repton at:
BBC Micro Archive
Repton 3 - Fan Remake

Ep.78 - WarioWare Inc: Mega Microgames (Nintendo Game Boy Advance)
Thursday Sep 09, 2021
Thursday Sep 09, 2021
To celebrate the release of WarioWare: Get it Together! this week, Chris and Ashley go back to where it all began on the Game Boy Advance with Mega Microgames. If you've ever played a WarioWare title you should know what to expect, and if you haven't, well we give you permission to pause the episode and go find one right now, because they're a lot of fun! But do come back afterwards.

Ep.77 - Apple Arcade (iOS)
Thursday Sep 02, 2021
Thursday Sep 02, 2021
Are you the sort that might want a treasure trove of games on tap and in your pocket at all times? Are you an exclusive type who only wants the best, who only has the best? Well Chris is, and he says he gets it all from Apple Arcade! We have to admit, after talking about it for an hour, it seems there are rather a lot of compelling reasons to dive into this subscription-based games collection. Listen in to find out exactly why!
